About
I first became involved in Suffolk Youth Music at the age of 10 when I started playing the Flute at Blundeston Primary school in 1973. I also played the piano and passed grade 8 on both instruments at the age of 16.
I then left school and joined the ’Staff Band of the Womans Royal Army Corp’ playing Flute and Piccolo. During my time with the band I played in many events including Wembley Stadium in the presence of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, a Tattoo in Toronto, Canada with Dame Vera Lynn. A Garden Party at Buckingham Palace and many more exciting events.
After leaving the Army I went on to have 5 children, all of whom have been involved in music and 3 grandchildren who I hope will follow on the tradition.
I have been teaching music privately for almost 40 years and in the last decade I became a backing singer for my partner touring both here and abroad in huge Theatre shows. This has been an amazing experience for me as before this I didnt even know I could sing !
A big highlight in my musical career though must be playing at ’Latitude’
with the Suffolk Smart Sinfonia. I loved every minute of it... I quote the words of my son’s Facebook statement ’ As if my mum played at Latitude and I haven’t even been’ ......... I think that says it all. 😊
