SMART Scholarship

The SMART Scholarship provides funding for young people to continue their musical learning through Suffolk County Music Service tuition and to attend a Suffolk County Music Service area ensemble.

These scholarships are available to young people from school years 7 to 13 (from approximately Grade 3 upwards) who demonstrate a great deal of commitment, enjoyment and potential in their music making, but for whom the financial cost of ongoing music tuition is a barrier to their continuation.

The scholarships help to enable young people to progress on their chosen instrument and can be worth up to the value of 50% of the combined costs of tuition and ensemble membership for the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.  Funding is initially provided for up to one year.

We consider scholarship applications once a year, although you can submit a scholarship application at any time. The deadline for applying for a scholarship for the 2024/25 academic year is 19th June 2024.
